Learn more about the team and philosophy behind the Strength:Lab Superheroes programme

At Strength Lab, we believe that every child deserves a strong foundation in movement skills, and we've designed an innovative program to make that a reality. Our program was crafted by a team of "Outstanding" teachers and national award-winning Sports Scientists, bringing together over 50 years of experience in teaching, coaching, and research in movement science.

Our program is built around a unique superhero theme, designed to engage and inspire primary school children. We've created five distinct superheroes, each representing one of the five key streams of movement skills: strength, agility, balance, coordination, and endurance. These heroes guide children through a fun and interactive journey, making learning about movement an adventure.

The **Strength Lab Superheroes** program features 24 levels, each consisting of 5 specific skills. As children progress through the levels, they have the opportunity to earn up to 5 stars for mastering each skill. This structured approach ensures that every child can build a comprehensive and solid foundation in movement, at their own pace.

Our approach is deeply rooted in the latest research. We draw on insights from the World Health Organization’s global recommendations on physical activity, which emphasize the importance of developing motor skills from a young age. We've also been influenced by the pioneering work of Professor Mark Tremblay at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, whose research highlights the critical role of physical activity in early childhood development. Additionally, our methodology is informed by the research of Professor Rhodri Lloyd at Cardiff Metropolitan University, a leading expert on youth strength and conditioning, whose work has shaped best practices in the field.

Furthermore, we've integrated practical insights from renowned practitioners like Dr. Joe Eisenmann, a leading voice in youth sports and physical literacy; Kelvin Giles, a highly respected coach and educator known for his work on movement skills development; and Vern Gambetta, a pioneer in functional sports training and movement education. Their collective wisdom has helped us create what we call the "Times Table of Movement," a systematic approach to developing essential movement skills in children.

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our accolades. We are proud that our founder was recognized as the UKSCA 2018 Youth Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year. This honor underscores our dedication to nurturing the next generation through research-backed, practical, and enjoyable physical education.

At Strength Lab, we don’t just teach movement—we empower children to become the best version of themselves. Our program is designed specifically for primary schools, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to develop essential movement skills in a fun and engaging way.
